National golf team Oh Soo-min (Shin Sung-go) was the runner-up at the Asia-Pacific Women's Amateur Golf Championship.
At the final round of the tournament held at Hoiana Shoures Golf Club (par 72) in Quangnam, Vietnam on Sunday, Oh cut five more pars and finished second with 17-under 267 overall. She is one stroke shy of Janice Wong (Malaysia, 18-under 266).
The championship is the most prestigious women's amateur golf competition in Asia and the Pacific, which is hosted annually by the Royal & Aviation Golf Club (R&A) and the Asia-Pacific Golf Association (APGC). This year marks the seventh championship. If the female golfer wins the championship, she will be eligible to participate in the AIG Women's Open, the Evian Championship, and the Chevron Championship. Oh Soo-min, who narrowly missed out on her first win as a Korean golfer, said, "I am so proud to be the runner-up at a big competition. I will make more efforts to win the title next year so that I can participate in major competitions." Hong Soo-min (Cheonan Joongangbang Tong High School) of the Korean national team, who also participated in the competition, tied for third at 15-under 269 and Yang Yoon-seo (Incheon Women's Bang Tong High School) of the standing army, tied for fourth at 14-under 270.
